the move to our new SMMHS building. The dates are undetermined at
this time. Most likely, mid June.
We will need parents and students.
Please contact me @ kimnnooga@aol.com or 886-7574 if you would be
willing to help.
Look for more information soon!
The music program at Signal
Mountain Middle School includes the largest organization sponsored
by the school. The music program which includes 6th grade
beginner band, 7th grade band, 8th grade band, 6th grade chorus,
7th grade chorus, and an 8th grade chorus involves about 225 students.
The chorus and the band are both award winning groups having won
Championship Awards at music festivals in several states.
The chorus and band attend
music festivals in alternating years. This year, the band performed
in Disney World's Tomorrowland's Galaxy Palace Theatre, playing
A Sailor's Oddessy, Acclamations, and Pirates of
the Carribean.
The highlight events for
the music program include the annual Christmas on the Mountain concert
at the Tivoli each year in December. We always invite the
choruses and hand bells from Nolan and Thrasher to make it a community
affair. We also enjoy performing a spring concert which we
normally hold on the lawn in front of the school near the first
of May.
Band
students are given the opportunity to audition for district honor
band in November, county honor band in February, and we encourage
students to audition at other times for various community sponsored
music organizations.
